Ellen Jean Karnes
Realtor
Since childhood, I have been drawn to homes, architecture, house plans and decorating! But growing up in a military family, we moved so often (8 times by age 14) that “putting down roots” in Virginia didn’t happen right away. My family moved to FL while I was still attending Madison College (now JMU) in Harrisonburg, VA, but I stayed, finished my degree and married a “Bedford County boy”, Tom Karnes. We built our home on Tom’s family farm in 1987 and still reside there. I enjoyed all my former careers: retail, hospitality, being a “stay at home mom”, painting/ wallpapering, and teaching History and Home Ec for 17 years at Staunton River Middle and High School. But, in 2007, I chose a new path, retiring early from teaching and becoming a licensed Realtor, first with Olde Colony Realty in Vinton and now Mountain View Real Estate.
Working with buyers and sellers is exhilarating! I bring 18 years of knowledge, kindness, patience, loyalty and perseverance. Helping clients achieve their goals is so rewarding! It is especially exciting to help my former middle and high school students become first and second time home buyers! If you feel we would be a great match, let me help you find or sell your “no place like home” in Bedford County,
Vinton, Roanoke or the greater Roanoke Valley!
